Crisis Planning

Sometimes Elders and their families wait until they are in the throes of  a long-term care crisis before seeking help.   That crisis may take the form of placement in a nursing home facility with the inherent contractual, financial and advocacy implications of such a placement.  Elders and their families are often overwhelmed by the decision-making required during such a transition.  Family members want the very best care possible for the duration of the elder's life but they often do not know what is available or how it can be assured with the financial resources available.  The elder and the family  need honest and straightforward advice about the ability to ensure good care while preserving the family resources.

Our crisis services include:

   •    assessing the situation;

   •   providing estate planning to the extent possible, considering any limitations posed by the elder's condition;

   •   negotiating the facility contract to insure appropriate care without liability for the family member;

   •   providing decisional support for long term care options;

   •   asset protection planning;

   •   negotiating the governmental support options including veteran's benefits and Medicaid.
